35 Years of Relationships, Resilience in Real Estate
For 35 years, Ta’mara Allen has built a career in real estate defined by adaptability, relationships and a genuine love for the business. From entering the industry through commercial real estate to becoming a longtime member of REMAX Gold, the journey has spanned tremendous changes in technology, marketing and the way agents serve their clients.
Over the decades, Ta’mara has witnessed real estate transform in nearly every way. MLS systems have evolved, contracts have grown increasingly complex, marketing has moved into the digital age, and communication has shifted from phone calls and face-to-face meetings to texting, email and digital signatures.
But one lesson has remained constant: successful agents must adapt.
“You have to adapt to it,” Ta’mara said.
Despite the growing role of technology, the people side of real estate remains what Ta’mara enjoys most. Working with clients, particularly first-time homebuyers, provides an opportunity to educate, guide and protect them throughout one of the biggest decisions of their lives.
Over the years, those professional relationships have often developed into lasting friendships. Ta’mara continues to check in with many past clients, some of whom have remained friends long after their transactions were completed.
That focus on relationships has also shaped the way Ta’mara approaches business. Rather than relying heavily on today's lead-generation methods, much of the business now comes through past clients and referrals.
“If I could give myself one piece of advice, it would be to stay in contact with your clients,” Ta’mara said. “That's going to be your future.”
Ta’mara’s career has included some impressive production. In 2001–2002, Ta’mara sold more than 80 homes in a single year, often working late into the night. Yet when asked what accomplishment stands out most, the answer wasn't a sales record.
It was survival by adapting to everything the markets threw her way.
After 35 years, the relationships built along the way are also a major reason Ta’mara has remained with REMAX Gold. The people, camaraderie and familiarity have created a sense of loyalty that has withstood decades of industry change.
Today, Ta’mara is approaching the business at a different pace, more intentionally, with an emphasis on enjoying the work and choosing the clients and relationships that matter most.
The real estate industry may be more complicated than it was 35 years ago, but Ta’mara remains committed to continuing to learn, adapt and serve clients.
And after three and a half decades, the verdict on her career is simple:
“It's been the best. I've loved it.”
For Ta’mara, 35 years in real estate isn't just a milestone. It's a testament to the power of relationships, resilience and loving what you do.
