Turning Community Connection into Impact
As we head into Miracle Month in May, we’d like to highlight an agent who is measuring his success through community impact and giving back. For Alex Salazar, one of the ways he has found that success is through Children’s Miracle Network (CMN).
Alex always knew about CMN, but a personal experience made him realize just how important it was to give back. Like many in Madera, Alex knew about Valley Children’s hospital, a landmark he frequently saw and drove past. Alex had limited interactions with the hospital and CMN. It wasn’t until a close friend’s child began undergoing multiple surgeries that the mission of CMN hit home.
Seeing what his friends were going through and watching them navigate the challenges of their child’s medical journey brought a new level of awareness to Alex. Hearing the positive experience they had made Alex realize that supporting CMN wasn’t just a charitable gesture, but a meaningful way to help families going through unimaginable circumstances.
Now, Alex and his team have contributed over $10,000 to CMN. While proud of that number, Alex thinks that he can do more. “It felt good,” Alex said, “but at the same time, I thought, we can do more.”
Fueled by this progress, Alex and his team are committed to expanding their efforts. He recently began encouraging client contributions and exploring ways to raise awareness, such as social media and team engagement.
The importance of CMN became even clearer to Alex during a flight. He was talking to the couple seated next to him about why they were flying to the Central Valley. He learned they were traveling because their teenage grandson had recently been diagnosed with cancer and was receiving treatment at the local children’s hospital. Once again, Alex saw the direct impact the hospital had on people’s lives. He reassured the couple of the hospital’s reputation and support systems and that their grandson was in great hands. “It made everything real,” he said. “This isn’t just something you pass by every day. It’s something that can affect all families, sometimes from across the country.”
These experiences reinforced a larger belief for Alex that real estate professionals have a unique platform to connect people not just to homes, but to communities. That includes sharing stories, highlighting local resources, and supporting causes that matter. He encourages other agents to get involved in their communities any way they can.
“You can’t fully understand a place by sitting in the office,” Alex said. “You have to get out, explore, and connect.”
Alex’s approach to his business goes beyond transactions. Real estate is a relationship business, and Alex understands that. He uses his business to support his community and give back, and through his actions, over time, his community thrives.
“We’re in the people business; we just happen to sell real estate.” – Alex Salazar
